About the Performing Arts 300 Hour Certificate Program
The BAC Performing Arts Certificate (300 hours) provides a comprehensive, experiential program that allows you to enhance your profession and performance with knowledge of the Alexander Technique process and principles. Throughout this program you will learn to integrate your body, mind, and sensory perceptions into your field of awareness and draw on this integration as you make creative choices in your work and artistry. The BAC provides a flexible program that is structured around your interests, artistic goals, and teaching.
This program is an excellent fit for performing artists, teachers and faculty in the performing arts, coaches, singers, actors, directors, dancers, choreographers, musicians, composers, conductors, theatrical clowns, to name a few. The BAC strives to create a diverse and inclusive environment welcoming students from all backgrounds, abilities and disciplines.
This program is eligible to provide CTLE Credits to NY State teachers (Continuing Teacher & Leader Education).

Your Body in Action: Accurate Images - Applied Anatomy
Breathing - Speaking - Presence
Lie Down, Flow, and Balance
Communication and Pedagogy
Field Awareness - Working with the Whole
Application of AT Principles
In Person Study - receiving teaching-hands work
Study Options:
Flexible schedule of in person, virtual, and independent study.
Certificate hours can be completed in no less than 3 months, and no more than 2 years.
260-300 hours can be completed in BAC programming including classes, workshops, intensives, private lessons, and the Teacher Training Program.
Up to 40 hours can be completed in approved independent study.
25 hours as private lessons with BAC Faculty.
All Certificate students must participate in at least one AT Principles Certification Intensive as a part of their 300 hours.
NOTE: The Performing Arts Alexander Technique Certificate is a certificate of study and does not qualify you to be an Alexander Technique teacher or use hands on in your work. For those interested in becoming a certified teacher of the Alexander Technique you can continue with our 1600 hour Teacher Training Program at any time.
Program Schedule:
Prior to beginning the program you will meet with the Director or BAC Faculty member to outline your desired course of study.
You may join this training program at anytime year round.

The Performing Arts Certificate Program is directed and taught by Ann Rodiger and assisted by BAC Faculty.
Program Fees:
Program fees will depend on the curriculum you select. Over the course of your 2-3 year study, the total cost will range from approximately $4,000 - $7,500.
Application Deadline & Program Start Dates:
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. We encourage beginning your study in January, April, or September.
