Freedom to Teach

  • Balance Arts Center 151 W 30th Street New York (map)

As a teacher, actor, dancer, you are your instrument. Master it.
This workshop is designed for drama and dance teachers who would like to enhance their teaching and artistic skills through intensive study of the Alexander Technique. Each day will include Alexander Technique group class, half hour private AT lessons, and afternoon sessions specifically tailored to dance and drama. Educators will learn the fundamentals of the Alexander Technique, and be guided toward a dynamic alignment and focus that leads the body to an efficient and effective state.  They will acquire activities and processes  to integrate the AT into lesson plans for drama and dance, in order to teach balance, sensory awareness, ease of movement and being, self agency and availability to artists. This workshop will illuminate the ways  in which educators can use their whole selves in dynamic alignment, and guide their students towards doing the same.
